A. James “Jim” Luko, 89, of Elliottsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at UPMC West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg. Born on May 11, 1936, in East Bethlehem Township, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Emma (Brindzo) Luko.
Jim was a 1954 graduate of California High School in Coal Center, PA, and would go on to serve in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he worked for the PA Auditor General’s office as an auditor in the Automotive Division. Upon retirement, he worked for many years at Boscov's.
Jim served his community throughout his life as a Committee Person in New Cumberland, volunteering at the polls for over a decade. He was also a founding member and the first president of the New Cumberland Girls Softball Association. Jim loved volunteering at his church; his favorite times were trunk or treat and the annual rummage sale.
Fall Saturdays found him watching Penn State Football, often encouraging the team loudly from his chair. He enjoyed spending evenings doing his word search, reading his Bible, and watching his favorite TV shows. He enjoyed visiting the New Bloomfield Senior Center every week for Bingo, always excited to bring home prizes to share with his family.
Jim’s favorite role was that of grandfather to Delaney. From blowing bubbles and trips to New Cumberland’s Borough Park when she was little, to supporting her in cheerleading, and attending football games to watch her in the color guard, she was the light in his life.
Jim will be remembered for his silly jokes, his kind heart, and his ability to see the best in everyone. He will also be remembered for the love he had for his daughter and son-in-law and gratitude for his many blessings.
His heart belonged to the Lord and he enjoyed reading his Bible every day, listening to sermons, and watching church. When the time came, Jim’s request was simply, “I’m ready to go to heaven.”
He is survived by his loving daughter, Rhonda Campbell (husband, Jason), and cherished granddaughter, Delaney Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 28 years, Marilyn (Sine) Luko (d. 1990); and all 10 of his siblings.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Jim’s name to his church: Trinity Church of New Cumberland, 415 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
