Albert Tracy Johnson Jr., of New York, NY passed away on September 14, 2025. He was 84 years old. Born April 28, 1941 in Dayton OH, Tracy's unwavering kindness, infectious humor, and selfless nature endeared him to many throughout his life.
Tracy spent his early years in Dayton before moving to Roslyn NY. He attended the Greenvale School, Greenvale NY, St. Paul's School, Concord NH, and Hobart College, Geneva NY. After graduation, he served with the National Guard from 1965-75. Tracy worked in banking, journalism, and with publisher McGraw-Hill.
Tracy was an avid baseball and hockey player in college, and enjoyed getting out on the tennis and paddle tennis courts in his adult life. He loved watching sports, and his passion for reading was unparalleled. His engaging personality and sense of humor guaranteed an atmosphere filled with warmth and laughs at any gathering. His legacy is one of love for his family and someone who always put others before himself.
Tracy is predeceased by his brother, Michael. He leaves behind a loving family: his wife of 38 years, Jane; his two sons: Timothy (Kristen), Duncan (Joelle) and granddaughter Molly; sister, Diane Wade; his nieces, Jennifer Lannan (Michael) and Leslie Kelly (Denis), and his great-nieces, Lucy Lannan and Hope Kelly.
A memorial service will be held on November 8, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, 2463 Main Street, Bridgehampton, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Tracy's name to Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd, Kanab, UT 84741-5000 or the Sierra Club Foundation, 2101 Webster St Suite 1350, Oakland, CA 94612 To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of A.
