A. Victor King, Jr., age 87, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Columbus Hospice.
A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Victor was born on February 5, 1938, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late A. Victor King, Sr. and Therese Green King.
Victor was a member of Hilton Terrace Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a Sunday school teacher for the high school boys. He helped start the children’s bus ministry picking up the neighborhood children for church. He served as Interim Youth Director for a brief period. He loved to sing and sang in the adult choir.
In his early years he was a firefighter with the Columbus Fire Dept. He later worked in banking and finance. He owned his own business and had a real estate brokerage license. He later drove a school bus and retired from the Muscogee County School District at age 79 with 30 years of service.
His favorite hobbies were playing pool at his daughter’s house and spending time with his family. He was always jovial with a great since of humor and was a joy to be around.
Victor was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jane Henry King, and son, Kenneth Bruce King.
He is survived by his daughters, Allison King Thorne (Mark Sr.) and Angie King Dalton (Eric), two grandchildren, Mark D. Thorne, Jr. (Taylor) and Lindsay Thorne Bishop (Will), and two great grandchildren, Witt Ryker Thorne and Demi Ann Thorne.
He will always be remembered as a loving husband and father and a cherished grandfather and great grandfather.
