A. West Obituary
A.W. West, age 93, of Calhoun, passed away Friday, February 9th at his home.
A.W. was born in Pickens County on May 6, 1930, the son of the late Franklin Ottrell West and Ella McLindy Pinyan. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove/Ryo Baptist Church and was employed by J Supply before his retirement. A.W. loved working outdoors and was a well-known cattleman.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Margaret Jeanette West; daughter, Marsha Gayla West; sisters, Oneida Silvers, Ernestine Culver, and Delaine Young; one brother, Emmett West; son-in-law, David Rickett; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie West.
Survivors include: his daughter, Joan Rickett; and son, Michael West; one sister, Lorene Garland; two grandsons, Wesley Kerce and his wife Jennifer and Cody West and his wife Belinda; great-grandchildren, Reagan Kerce, Chance West, and Chase West; and as well as several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, February 13th at 1 pm from Pleasant Grove/Ryo Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Jim Burns officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11 am until 12 noon Tuesday from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home.
