Aaron Lee AlfreyApril 26, 1960 - January 8, 2025
Aaron Lee Alfrey, age 64, of
Elwood, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Born and raised in Elwood, Aaron was a man who didn't just live life -- he embraced it with both hands, a full belly laugh, and his trusty "milkshake" in hand.
Aaron was the son of Leo Rex and Ann (Peitz) Caplinger, raised by Robert Caplinger, who helped shape him into the strong-willed, free-spirited man he became. Aaron's memory and spirit are carried on by his loving mother, Ann Caplinger of Elwood.
In 1993, Aaron married the love of his life, Brenda (Groover) Alfrey. Together, they shared 33 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and a solid partnership built on family and adventure. Whether it was fishing at dawn, hunting at dusk, or just spending time with his grandkids, Aaron was a man who never sat still for too long.
Aaron spent much of his career as a truck driver with K.A.G. Energy. For him, the road was not just a job but a place of freedom where the world felt like his to conquer. But more importantly, he was known as the kind of guy who always had his family's back. Aaron was the rock you could count on, no matter the distance or time.
Although he liked a good adventure, it was his love for family that stood out most of all. He was the self-proclaimed "NFL expert," making weekly picks with his family, but let's be honest, even though he liked the Colts, his heart belonged to Kansas City. And let's face it, those "milkshakes" were his special creations -- one part ice cream, one part secret sauce, and 100% Aaron.
Family was Aaron's biggest love, and his legacy will live on through his children, Charles & Crystal Anderson of Alexandria, Amber & Conway Munoz of Frankfort, and Telisha & Brandon Glassburn of Elwood. Aaron was also a proud grandfather to Amanda Anderson, Jerrard Wilkerson, Marissa (Cameron) Stephens, Cody Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Caleb Anderson, Shawnacey (Cody) Carmine, Landon (Julia) Diehl, Aubrey Anderson, Easton Glassburn, Emma Glassburn, Austin (Addie) Hunt, Quentin (Joy) Hunt, Trevor Hunt, and Alexis (Gavin) Hunt, and a great-grandfather to Matthew Buttler, Kegan Carpenter, and Oak'lynn Stanley.
Aaron is also survived by his siblings, Chris (Debbie) Alfrey of
Elwood, IN, Andy (Melissa) Alfrey of
Elwood, IN, and Margaret (Richard) Parks of Kokomo, IN; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings-in-law, Butch (Altheia) Groover, Loretta Thompson, Debra Smith, and Missy (Bill) Taylor, who loved him like family.
While Aaron's passing leaves a hole in the hearts of many, he is now reunited with those who left before him: his father, Robert Caplinger; biological father, Leo Rex Alfrey; siblings, Patricia Aldridge and Roger Alfrey; grandchildren, Ethan and Evan Glassburn, great-grandchild, Zekariah Anderson, mother-n-law Dee Watson, sisters-n-law Betty Groover, Faye Frye, and brother-n-law Gary Smith. We can only imagine the reunion up there, with Aaron cracking jokes, making picks for the next big game, and sharing a milkshake or two.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street,
Elwood, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. that same day. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.

Aaron may be gone from our sight, but his love, humor, and spirit will forever be felt in the hearts of those who knew him. Rest in peace, Aaron. And, as always, you've got our back.
