Aaron Frederick Buttner Jr., age 78, of Hixson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
Aaron was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that reflected his strength, resilience, and unyielding spirit. Known to many as strong-willed and stubborn in the way only truly devoted men can be, Aaron lived life on his own terms and loved just as fiercely.
He grew up working on cars, a passion that followed him throughout his life and later became a treasured bond shared with his son. Aaron had a deep love for motorcycles and riding, and he found particular joy in cycling. When he wasn't turning a wrench or riding, he could often be found tending to his garden, enjoying the quiet satisfaction of watching things grow.
Above all else, Aaron loved his family. He shared a profound and enduring love with his wife, Connie-the love of his life-whose passing he felt deeply. Their bond was one of devotion, grit, and loyalty. He also adored his faithful companions, his dogs, McArthur and Benji.
Aaron's love, though not always spoken, was fierce and unwavering. He was a man whose approval was hard-won but deeply meaningful, and whose journey included growth, humility, forgiveness, and peace. Those closest to him knew that beneath his tough exterior was a heart that loved fully and deeply. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Connie Daughtrey Buttner.
He is survived by his children: Dreama Campbell and her husband, Trey Campbell, and her son, Xian; Jason Buttner and his fiancée, Emily Krueger; and Jason's daughter, Zoe Elizabeth Buttner Howard. He is also survived by his siblings, Kathy Buttner Hubbard, Jim Buttner, and Mary Buttner Jones.
A service to celebrate Aaron's life will be held on Thursday, January 22nd 2026, in the funeral home chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
Those who knew Aaron will remember a man who loved fiercely, lived honestly, and now-according to those who loved him most-looks down on us with a little sunshine and a Budweiser in hand.
