Aaron Christopher Darnell, 13, of Saltsburg, passed away Friday, May 23, 2025, at his home. Born July 20, 2011, in Greensburg, he was the son of Christopher G. and Brandy M. (Fallecker) Darnell of Saltsburg. Aaron attended River Valley Middle School, where he was a member of the wrestling and track teams. He loved being outdoors, especially in the summertime when he could swim, snorkel, or catch crawfish along the Conemaugh River. Aaron also loved animals and enjoyed caring for their rabbits at home. He displayed an ornery sense of humor and enjoyed sharing it with others. Some of his other favorite pastimes included board games, cards, and listening to music, having recently enjoyed a Green Day concert with his family and friends. Aaron was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, David E. Gillis. In addition to his parents, Aaron is survived by his sister, Mackenzie M. Darnell, of Saltsburg; grandparents, Evelyn Gillis, of Derry, Scott and Sandy Fallecker, of Ligonier, and Red and Kathy Darnell, of Youngwood; his Uncle Scott and Aunt Heather Fallecker, and Aunt April Darnell; cousins, Levi, Elizabeth, Tyler, Paxton, Adeline, and Leah; and his best friend, Evan DePrimio. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Satler officiating. Private interment will follow at Unity Cemetery.
