Aaron M. Gettelman

1948 - 2024

Ixonia, WI - Aaron M. Gettelman, 76, of Ixonia, found grace in the arms of his Savior on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Spero Heritage Homes in Watertown.

He was born on June 12, 1948 to Ardell and Hortense (Martin) Gettelman. He went to school in Menomonee Falls graduating from High School in 1967. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Church in Menomonee Falls. He married his soul-mate Patti Schoessow on May 12, 1973. After High School he worked for his uncle Horace Gettelman as a mechanic. He went on to work at Hays Implement in Alderley. He worked there until 1994 when he went out on his own and formed Gettelman's Repair. He took his service van from farm to farm repairing all kinds of equipment. He loved his work and his customers, most of which became dear friends.

Aaron was very passionate about International Harvester and loved collecting their tractors as well as memorabilia. IHC was his favorite, especially balers. He was also a member of Ixonia Antique and Tractor Club.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Patti (Schoessow) Gettelman of Ixonia; siblings: Kristine Droese of Slinger, Linda (Lyle) Wendorf of Ixonia, Mark (Debbie) Gettelman of Menomonee Falls; sister-in-law, Sue Gettelman; brother-in-law, Dick (Jane) Schoessow; sisters-in-law, Mary (Tom) Bauer and Debbie (Todd) Johnson. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and furry friend Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law; brother, Jim Gettelman; brother-in-law, Dale Droese.

He will be missed by all that knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sugar Island at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave Uden officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sugar Island or to the Ashippun Bread Basket Food Pantry. A luncheon will follow in the lower level of the church.
