Wesley Aaron Mays, 58, of Dix, Illinois, passed away at 7:50 am February 7, 2026. He was born August 4, 1967 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Ben and Marcella (Meyers) Mays.

In addition to his parents, Aaron is survived by his children, Hailey Mays and Hunter Mays; sister, Julie (Mike) Tiemann of Woodlawn, Illinois; nieces and nephews, Madison Tiemann and Jackson Tiemann, both of Woodlawn, Chenys Tiemann of Dix, and Michael Tiemann of Salem; aunt, Donna Mays of Dix; cousins, Stuart Steele, Scot Steele, Kendra Steele, Rod Mays, and Jodi Wollerman.

Aaron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cleo and Violet Mays and Karl and Dorothy Meyers; aunt, Barbara (Ken) Steele; uncle, Jim Mays; and cousin, Steven Steele.

Aaron was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially bass tournaments throughout the country. He worked in agriculture sales, but spent much time on the family farm.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home with Mr. Jonathan Schnautz officiating. Interment will follow at Boyd Cemetery in Boyd, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Aaron's honor to the American Heart Association or Central Christian Church.
