Aaron Searcy, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, formerly of Boron, California unexpectedly passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 at his home. He was born September 28, 1971 in Anniston, Alabama to Butch and Vieata Searcy. He grew up in Farmington, New Mexico where he exceled in baseball and football which formed a passion for sports with his dad. He then moved to Boron, California in 1989 with his family.
Aaron was currently employed by Martin Marietta as a Plant Manager. Prior to Martin Marietta he worked for Rio Tinto Minerals in California as a Maintenance Supervisor for over 20 years. Aaron was a huge sports fanatic, following Alabama college football, and as we all know, the New York Yankees. Aaron loved his family and spending time with them, whether it was cookouts, swim parties, watching movies, or camping.
He devoted much of his time to coaching and helping kids. He began his coaching career with youth football and then when his daughters were older, he began coaching them in softball. During these years he provided mentorship and guidance both on and off the field to many kids who still fondly referred to him as "Coach". In Aaron's last few years, he became a grandpa to his only grandchild and referred to himself as "CoolPa". He loved and cherished his "crazy boy" and spoiled him without limits - even if it got him in trouble.
Aaron was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Violet LaMoureaux; and uncle, Dennis LaMoureaux.
Aaron will be deeply missed by his wife, Melissa Searcy; two daughters and son-in-law, Lauren and Austin Petrey and Kailla Searcy; grandson, Jonah Petrey; fur daughters, Sofie and Harlee (the favorite); parents, Butch and Vieata Searcy; sister, Myndee York; mother-in-law, Anneta Ford; brother-in-law, David Lynch; nieces, Elissya Searcy, Paityn York, and Sarah Lynch; nephews, Kyson York and Joseph Lynch; and paternal grandmother, Audrey Belardes along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held in California and announced at a later date.
In loving memory, Aaron's spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
