Obituary of Aaron Daniel Winter

Aaron Daniel Winter, age 55 born June 14, 1970, died August 7, 2025.

A time for family and friends to gather celebrating his life, will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 2 to 5 pm at Shelter house #2, Terry Trueblood in Iowa City. Please consider donations in Aaron's memory to, Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center.

Aaron was born in Iowa City. He was a star student at Lincoln Elementary, Central and Southeast Junior Highs, and at City High School. Aaron played a variety of sports, including baseball, soccer and golf. Aaron had a life-long love of music, playing drums at school, and later playing guitar and singing with several rock and metal bands in Iowa City.

Aaron was a classic car collector and owned a Chevy Nova and several Pontiac Trans Ams. He worked for several years at Hilltop gas station and was a skilled auto mechanic.

Aaron earned a certificate for Water Treatment at Kirkwood College and worked for Iowa City Water Treatment Plant. Later, Aaron ran his own business, Ichabod's Home and Lawn service, for many years. He enjoyed bicycling and rode many miles in and around Iowa City. He loved canoeing and was often found out on the local rivers, and enjoyed weightlifting. Aaron had several cats including his first cat, Bun, that lived more than 20 years, Ethel (Wormie) and his last cat, Bengku, with whom he shared many adventures and caught many mice.

Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Richard Winter, and is survived by his brother Tony, sister Kirsten, and his partner Heather.
