Abby Ritchey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evans Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services - Forest Hill from Dec. 2 to Dec. 3, 2025.
On November 28, 2025, Abigail (Abby) Elizabeth Ritchey passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. Abby was born on August 4, 1994, as the first child of Gwen and Chris Ritchey. She is survived by her parents as well as her devoted sister Madeleine and fiancé Sean. Abby was the granddaughter of Rena and Delbert Ritchey and the late Betsy and Terry Sheldon. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving family members and friends.
Abby completed her formal education at Towson University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Arts and Design. While attending Towson University, she became a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
After college, Abby worked for over eight years (until her passing) at the Defense Commissary at Aberdeen Proving Ground as a Teller. During her time at the Commissary, she was awarded two Commander's Coins in recognition of her outstanding job performance. Abby was also featured in an issue of the Defense Commissary Agency publication DeCA Vision where she was praised by a customer for her great customer service before and during the pandemic. The customer praised Abby for providing great service with a smile and helpful hints about the products and discounts available. Abby was very well liked by the Commissary staff and customers. One of Abby's greatest gifts was her creativity which she expressed in various ways, including sketches, paintings, and computer-generated graphics. Abby especially enjoyed decorating Halloween pumpkins. Her last theme was Disney characters including Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Chip the chipmunk, and Roger Rabbit.
Many things brought joy to Abby's life including trips to Hawaii, raising vegetables in her garden, her huge vinyl record collection, eating out at restaurants, baking pastries for her family, shopping at antique store, rooting for her favorite NFL team the Chargers, her fantasy football league and last but most importantly her dog, Ruby. Perhaps Abby's two greatest gifts of all were her love for her family and her desire to help others. She loved buying gifts, especially at Christmas time. Words can never express how much she was loved by her family and friends. Abby was a blessing to everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Abby's life at the Evans Life Celebration Home-3 Newport Drive on Saturday December 6, 2025 with a receiving of friends from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm at which time a celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in Abigail's memory. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.evansfuneralchapel.com
