WORCESTER – Abdon Melendez Jr., 51, of Milbury Street, passed away peacefully at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus on January 19, 2026.
Abdon is lovingly remembered by his wife, Nicole (Kusek) Melendez, whom he married on February 14, 2019. He is also survived by his four children: Jayden Grace of Virginia, Alendia Tetlow of Dudley, Coran Tetlow of Leicester, and Jayden Tetlow of Southbridge, as well as his sisters, Brenda Melendez and her husband, Wilfredo Villanueva, of Southbridge, and Nellyana Melendez of Puerto Rico. He is also remembered by his nieces, Shalom and Natyarie Villanueva, his aunt Olga Melendez her husband Victor Miranda, his aunt Rosa Zavala, and his cousins: Deacon Jerry Miranda, and Jeffrey Miranda.
Born in New York City to Abdon Melendez-Pagan and Madeline Zavala, Abdon went on to complete high school in Puerto Rico. He worked as a barber, as well as did odd jobs in construction for work.
Abdon loved sports, specifically having a special love for baseball, boxing, and football, with the Yankees. More than anything, Abdon loved spending time with his family. Known for being a jokester, thanks to his vibrant sense of humor and playful spirit, he will be profoundly missed by everyone who knew him.
His funeral Mass will take place at 11 AM on January 31, at St. Mary’s Church, of the St. John Paul II parishes, Hamilton Street Southbridge.
Calling hours will be on Friday, January 30th, from 6-8PM in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge.
