Abel P Carrasco Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Abel P. Carrasco Sr., beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who left this world on February 9, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on September 3, 1938, in Fentress, Texas, Abel lived a life rich in love, labor, and laughter.

Abel was the cherished son of Abelino Carrasco Sr. and Sara Carrasco, and the devoted husband of Irene Carrasco, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage until her passing. He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, seven brothers, and three sisters.

He is survived by his daughter Tillie Carrasco Ambriz; son, Abel Carrasco Jr. and his wife, Annette; grandchildren Zachary Abel Carrasco, Natalie Eden Sotello and her husband, Cameron, and Kimberly Faith Romo and her husband, Alex as well as brother, Joe B. Carrasco. Abel also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Joaquin Alejandro Romo, Olivia Grace Romo, and Sunny Kate Sotello, who brought immense joy to his later years.

Throughout his life, Abel dedicated over 40 years to the construction industry, specializing in stucco work. Known for his resourcefulness, he repurposed everything and found joy in tending to his garden, where his green thumb flourished. He was a man of few words, yet he possessed a playful spirit, often sharing jokes and laughter with those around him. Family was the cornerstone of his existence; his children were always his priority, and they quickly shared that role with his adored grandchildren.

Abel's life took a difficult turn after the loss of his beloved wife, Irene. Nevertheless, he carried on with unwavering kindness, never meeting a stranger and always engaging in conversation, lending a listening ear, and sharing a hearty laugh. He found solace in music, often playing it loudly, filling the air with melodies that mirrored the vibrant spirit of his life.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the reciting of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home. Mass will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at St. Philip Binizi Catholic Church followed by burial at Madre Dolorosa Cemetery #2 in Poteet.

Abel Carrasco's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his generous spirit, loving nature, and the laughter he brought into our lives.
