ABIGAIL SILK WALES

WALES, Abigail Silk Abigail Silk Wales (1928-2023) Abby passed away peacefully on March 14, 2023 at the age of 94. Born in Boston and raised in New Hampshire, she always had a deep love for her family. She lived most of her life by the sea, between the Scituate and Cohasset communities and Damariscotta, Maine, before settling on Cape Cod where she enjoyed the sun, salt air and ocean breeze. Her Fourth of July parties were a renowned family tradition, drawing friends and family from across the country and always having a spare bed for a guest (and their dog). An avid reader, deep thinker and progressively minded, she loved a good laugh, dry wit and a drier martini. Abby was a tireless and selfless caregiver to her family and in her career as a nurse, her ability to help patients and family members deal with difficult situations with dignity and grace was deeply admired. Abby passed along her love of medicine to her three daughters and was extremely proud that all three followed in her footsteps, as nurses and a doctor. Abby was a competitive amateur tennis player born of a lineage in Boston sports. Her father, Hal Janvrin, played for the Boston Red Sox straight out of Boston Latin School, where he was considered one of Boston's greatest schoolboy athletes. Her son, David, was a member of the 1980 USA "Miracle on Ice" gold medal hockey team and played for the Boston Bruins. Abby was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Silk and Guilbert "Gib" Wales, with whom she had loving marriages. She is survived by her children, Maxine Tutor (Gerald), Marcia Kent, Susan Silk (Thomas), and David Silk, and by her step-children, Steve Wales (Audrey), Doug Wales (Annie), and Lucy Kluckhohn-Jones. She is also survived by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who gave her countless years of joy and happiness. A Celebration of Life for friends and family is being arranged.
