Abner Cuff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hightower's Memorial Chapel - Douglasville on Mar. 31, 2026.
Abner was born on December 16, 1946, in Sylvester, Georgia, to the late Almer Cuff and Beatrice Green-Cuff. He was the eldest boy of sixteen siblings. He graduated from Miami Northwestern Senior High School in 1966. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he received many accolades. He served a tour during the Vietnam War before receiving an honorable discharge in 1972. He was incredibly proud to have served his country and would often share Army stories with other veterans he met throughout his life.

Abner was previously married, and from that union, LaShun Goldware and Michael Cuff were born.

In 1980, he met Johnnie Mae, and the two quickly became inseparable. They married in 1999, and he became a devoted father to her four children, loving and raising them as his own. Abner and Johnnie Mae shared a life full of love, partnership, and unwavering devotion. They did everything side by side and were affectionately known as a "tag team," a true reflection of their special bond.

After spending over fifty years in Miami, Florida, Abner and Johnnie relocated to Douglasville, Georgia. Before his passing, Abner was working part-time at Abram's Architectural Product in Austell, Georgia.

Abner was a sports fanatic and a die-hard Miami Dolphins fan. He enjoyed drag racing, a good game of spades or dominoes, and in his spare time, he could often be found reading a good book.

Abner was baptized at Lighthouse Worship Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and later transferred his membership to BOC Worship Center in Attalla, Alabama. On March 23, 2026, Abner Cuff was called home to rest in Yahauh's loving arms.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Almer Cuff and Beatrice Green-Cuff; his children, Tiffany Ellis-Hayes and Eddie Ellis Jr.; his grandchildren, Victoria Goldware and Rakim Lubin; and his siblings, Mae Lizzie Cuff, Annie Renea Williams, Dorothy Poole, Eddie Cuff Sr., and Beatrice Cuff Crawford.

Abner leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Johnnie Mae Cuff; his two daughters, LaShun Goldware and Sabrina Bleasdell (Shawn); his two sons, Michael Cuff and Sedric Dukes; his nine sisters, Cora Hawkins (Donald Sr.), Jackie Mayberry (Bernaird), Yvonne Richardson (Eugene), Betty Ann Wright (Frank), Sheila Symonette (Bradford), Veronica Wright (Angelo), Christine Mitts, Diane Wiggins (Ricky Sr.), and Lisa Cooper (Ray); his two brothers, Johnny Cuff and Aaron Cuff; twelve grandchildren; fifteen greatgrandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; his Godchildren, YeTunde Coney, Lushaunda Denis, Sammie Martin, and Chestina Maloney; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hightower's Memorial Chapel in Douglasville.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 3, 2026 in the chapel of the funeral home with Apostle Reginald Huff Officiating. Keon Cuff, Josiah Cuff, Michael Cuff, Tedrick Allen, Donald Hawkins, Jr, Richard Williams will be serving as pallbearers.

Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery.
