Ada Biamonte Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 11, 2025.
Ada Biamonte, 87, of Honesdale, passed peacefully on March 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Austin A. Eamigh and Gertrude Kunsman, Ada was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 63 years, Joseph "Joe" Anthony Biamonte.
Ada and Joe were married on Dec. 19, 1953, at Saint Joseph Church in Newton, NJ. They were blessed with three children, by whom they are survived, Lisa (Bob) Portice, Valerie (August) Meyer, and Anthony "Tony" (Lorri) Biamonte.
Ada, known fondly as "Nannie," is also survived by her four grandsons, Graham (Jackie) Craig, Joel Craig, Brandon (Michelle) Portice, and Augie (Maggie) Meyer; one granddaughter, Eamigh (Michael) Scott; six great-grandchildren with another on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her three older brothers, Delbert (Carol), David (Reba), and Howard (Betty), and by her sister, Sadie/Peggy (Russ). She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary (Stosh) Kozlowski.
Ada was born in Lafayette, NJ, and lived most of her life in Newton and Lake Iliff, in Andover Township. She was an avid swimmer, spending many happy hours in Lake Iliff. There, she and Joe formed lifelong relationships with friends who became like family. Her family enjoyed hearing legendary stories of cross-country RV trips, Super Bowl parties, and other capers.
In 1984, Ada and Joe moved to Wayne County, PA, where they bought the Ponderosa Pines Campground. After 10 years of making fond memories by the campfire, they sold the campground in 1994 and made their home in Honesdale.
Ada loved sewing and baking. She never returned a dish or plate empty, and she was always up for trying a new recipe or pattern. She was also a fierce card player, dominating in Skip-Bo and Uno.
Despite ongoing disappointment, Ada remained a diehard Steelers fan, never missing a game or an opportunity to wear black and gold. She especially enjoyed weeks when "her" team was playing against an opponent her grandchildren rooted for.
Ada was a devoted gardener and was happiest digging in the dirt. Her favorite flower was the sunflower, which matches the warmth she radiated throughout her life. She was a wonderful woman who brought a smile to everyone who met her.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for May; details to be announced later. Interment is planned at that time at Saint Joseph's Cemetery, Newton, NJ.
