Ada MarDean Nielsen of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away June 15, 2024, at home with her family by her side. Born March 23, 1934, in Grace, Idaho, to John Lyman Lloyd and Ada Geneva Sorensen, MarDean met her husband, Stephen, while attending Ricks College. They were married for 55 years before his passing in 2009. Together they had four daughters and a son.
MarDean is best known for her amazing bread, dinner and cinnamon rolls, and candy. She was an excellent seamstress and loved crocheting and counted cross-stitch. Her walls are adorned with her work. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many capacities within the Relief Society, Young Women's and Primary, and as a temple worker. Along with her husband, she served two missions–the first in the England London South Mission followed by one in the Canada Toronto Mission. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers where she served as an historian and camp captain. She lived a life that exemplified faith, determination and unconditional love. She will be missed by many.
MarDean was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen; infant son, Stephen Joseph; her parents; and brother, Douglas Lloyd. She is survived by her daughters, Catherine (Keith) Parry, Suzanne Nielsen, Cindy (David) Ord, and Rebecca (Ricky) Bush; nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson; and brothers Richard Lloyd, LaMar Lloyd, and Stanford Lloyd.
Services will be held Saturday, June 29 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing to be held beginning at 10:00 at the LDS Temple View Chapel located at 877 Temple View Drive in Las Vegas. Interment will be held at Palm Eastern Mortuary & Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Services are under the care of La Paloma Funeral Services.

Ada, AKA, Mardene, AKA Sister Mardy Nielsen and her husband Steve served with us in Canada Toronto East Mission. They were wonderful kind and loving missionaries and the very best of friends.

MarDeane and Steve served as Senior Missionaries in the Canada Toronto East Mission. They added sweet devotion, friendship, service, testimony, and love to the mission, the missionaries, and everyone that had the privilege of serving and associating with them. They blessed countless lives and brought joy and laughter wherever they served. God bless them in their eternal graduation and bless their family for their heritage is our sincere prayer.

I first met MarDean when Susie was a baby and my friend Betty Swafford Mckellar and I cared for her while MarDean and Steve attended the temple in Idaho Falls. Our friendship grew when I married Dean Allen, and moved to Las Vegas. MarDean´s husband lived with us for a short time until she was able to sell their previous home and buy a home just up the street from us. We learned to love this family and have stayed friends over the years. I will miss MarDean. I know her girls know this, but I just want to tell them again what a beautiful, hardworking, compassionate, mother they had. Our hearts are aching for you. We love you all. Verlene and Dean Allen

My Sweet Aunt MarDean was always there for me with unconditional love and support. She was an elegant lady. Her love of the Savior was shown in her everyday life. I will miss her love and support. I am a better person because of her love to me. Until we meet again I love you with all my heart.
