Ada Waldron Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Columbia Funeral Home & Crematory - Seattle on Oct. 31, 2024.
Ada Louise (Lulu) Hains Waldron
April1, 1931-October 17, 2024
Lulu Waldron passed away October 17, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was a remarkable woman who embraced adventures throughout her life, guided by her deep and abiding faith.
Lulu was known for her devotion: to God, to her family, and to a good time, in that order. As the original party girl and family matriarch, she taught everyone that to embrace joy and a party was sometimes the very best rebellion in even the hardest of times. She could drink her grandchildren under the table, and sailed across the Atlantic when she was bored. She also learned to fly a plane when she was bored, challenged people to downhill ski races when she was bored... you get the picture. Lulu got her beloved divorce in her fifties, ran marathons in her sixties, competed in sprint triathlons in her seventies, and walked the Camino de Santiago in her eighties. She was an accomplished artist, pilot, golfer, ski instructor, and competitive barrel rider. If she loved you, you always knew, because she would tell you constantly, and then pour you a glass of wine. She was known for showing up for people when they were down: flying in to save the day, and later driving her RV in to save the day, and finally when she could no longer travel, sending shakily handwritten postcards to brighten the day.
Lulu's kindness and faith were expressed through her support of numerous Catholic charities and her abiding concern for the environment. She is remembered for her joie de vivre and as a loving mother to her three daughters, Dianne B Samuelson, Teresa Brentnall, and Natalie Brentnall. She was cherished by her four grandchildren Arielle Samuelson, Talia Samuelson, Andrew Levy, and Nick Levy. To know her was to know love.
A funeral mass will be held November 14 at St. James Cathedral in Seattle. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to the American Cancer Society or the Cancer Research Institute in her name.
