Adam Amaker Obituary

Adam "AP" Perry Amaker, Jr

December 12, 1950 - November 12, 2025

Adam "AP" Perry Amaker, Jr. was born on December 12, 1950, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and he passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025. His life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and adventure that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

AP devoted over 40 years to the maintenance department at Albemarle, where his unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence earned him the respect and affection of his colleagues. A proud alumnus of Southern Methodist College in Orangeburg, his educational pursuits laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for learning and growth.

AP was a true outdoorsman at heart. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life - the thrill of a hunt and the tranquility of fishing in the serene waters. These hobbies were not merely pastimes for him; they were expressions of his spirit, moments where he felt most alive and connected to nature.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 56 years, Linda Chavis Amaker, with whom he shared countless memories and adventures. Together, they raised a beautiful family that includes their children, David Amaker and Amanda Headden (Charles). AP's legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren, Lakin Amaker, Blair Amaker, Linsey Amaker, Lexie Amaker, Richard Amaker (Caitlin), and Hillary Amaker, along with the joyous presence of his great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Lilly, Bjorn, Cody, and "Jr.".

He is also survived by his brother Harold Amaker (Jennifer) and his nephews, Joe Amaker, Bobby Amaker (Edwina), and Gerald Amaker (Ragan), who will carry forward the memories of their cherished uncle.

The loss of AP is profoundly felt, particularly by those who were close to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam P. Amaker, Sr. and Louise Binnicker Amaker, and he now rejoins his late son, Daniel Amaker, and brother, Carl Amaker in eternal rest.

A funeral service to honor AP will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, 1012 Whitman Street, Orangeburg. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel prior to the funeral service.

The family of AP would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Amedisys Hospice for the love, care and respect shown to AP and to the family.

AP's kindness, warmth, and zeal for life will forever be remembered and celebrated. He leaves behind a legacy of love and the hearts of many who will carry the stories and experiences they shared with him throughout their lives. Those who knew AP were blessed to encounter a soul as vibrant and genuine as his, and his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives he touched.
