Adam Ray Barela

Adam Ray Barela, born June 14th, 1982, completed his earthly journey on February 10th, 2025, at the age of forty-two.

He is survived by his loving and acquiescent wife and partner of twelve years, Maria Isela Barela, and had five wonderful children: Jeremy Jackson Cole (20), Adam Ray Barela Jr. (19), Anthony David Barela (17), Stephen Cruz Eldred (21), Nayeli Rose Garza (18), and son-in-law Sotero Robert Garza.
Adam was born to loving mother Cynthia Trujillo (Barela) and father, Raymond Baca, as well as stepfather, Aaron Duane Trujillo Sr. Siblings include brother Dominic Perez, wife Crystal and children Isaac and Destiny; brother Christopher Trujillo, wife Elyse and children Aria and Enzo; brother Joshua Trujillo and wife Davi. Also included are step siblings: Aaron Trujillo Jr., April Trujillo, and Ashley Contreras. Special family members also include Ray Perez and wife Debra, Anette Moreno Perez and Alicia Rollins. Adam is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Orlidia Flores. Cherished cousins David Barela, Michael Pena, Richard Montoya and best friend Daniel Franco, in addition to several other beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and extended family members.
Adam joined the United States Marine Corps June 19th, 2000, in which he served four years as a Supply Administration and Operations Clerk. He deployed once in defense of the Nation to Iraq and was awarded the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Certificate of Commendation, and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. Adam later went on and continued a career at Lovelace Regional Hospital as Head of Security (Supervision) for 12 years.
In his spare time, Adam enjoyed attending family events. He was always welcoming new faces, he loved barbequing, boxing, and MMA. He had plans to travel the world with his wife via cruise ship and began learning how to build specialized furniture for couples. He was excited to participate in music gigs with his good friend Fabian Romero who helped create Adams DJ persona, "DJ FAFU". Adam's personality was bigger than life, he was humble but not afraid to show his dominant side. He had a laugh that was recognizable anywhere he went even in a crowd and touched the lives of every person he met. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
A viewing is scheduled for Adam on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with a service, to include military honors, to begin at 2:00 PM.
