Adam Mantzaris Obituary

Adam Mantzaris
January 27, 1930 - January 18, 2026
Attorney Adam Mantzaris, 95, of Madison, formerly of Wallingford, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Jean (Audisio) Mantzaris with whom he shared 51 wonderful years of marriage.
Adam was born in Meriden on January 27, 1930, a son of the late Emanuel and Mary (Thanos) Mantzaris. He grew up in Meriden and attended the University of Connecticut, where he earned his bachelor's degree through the ROTC program before serving in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Adam returned to the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor. He began his career as an attorney and later served as Corporation Counsel for the Town of Wallingford for several decades, retiring at the young age of 81.
Adam found great joy in carpentry and took pride in fixing things around the house. In his spare time, he loved to fish and could often be found reading the newspaper or enjoying a good book of historical nonfiction. Above all, Adam was known for his kindness and generosity, always ready to listen and to offer steady, thoughtful advice to anyone who needed it.
Adam is survived by his three children, Adam A. Mantzaris and his wife Jessica of Wallingford, Alexia Thomas and her husband Keith of Hyde Park, MA, and Nicholas Mantzaris and his wife Meera Rathinasamy of Columbia, MD; his grandchildren, Piper, Lucy, Vinny, Lyla, Brayden, Anjali and Iris; his siblings, Despina Deegan of Meriden and Christopher Mantzaris of Massachusetts; his in-laws, Mary Ann Farrell and Attorney Gerald E. Farrell Sr. of Wallingford, and Michael J. Audisio of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean A. Mantzaris, his brothers, John Mantzaris of Meriden and Louis Mantzaris of Kensington.
Adam's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, January 28th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext. The funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, January 29th at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext. at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the spring at Center Street Cemetery in Wallingford.

I loved waiting on Adam and Jean whenever they came into our restaurant (Verdolini's) for dinner. Such a very special, kind and loving couple. To his family: My sincerest wishes for your family memories to give all of you peace.
