Adam M. Sweda

1944 - 2025

Mr. Adam M. Sweda, 81, formerly of Vandergrift, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at the Quality Life Services Skilled Nursing Facility in Apollo. He was born in Dunbar on June 10, 1944, to the late Adam and Mary Burncheck Sweda Jr. Adam graduated from North Union High School, class of 1962. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Adam retired from FirstEnergy Corporation. He was a member of Apollo Elks Lodge 386 of Vandergrift and the Catholic War Veterans Post 1669 of Hopwood. Adam enjoyed watching sports events, as well as his time golfing with friends and going to the Hancock Inn. He is survived by three siblings, Emilie (Thomas) Kaucheck of Seven Hills, OH, John (Kristan Lucas) Sweda of Granite Bay, CA, and Karen (Ted) Muzika of Uniontown; nieces and nephews, John, Richard (Judy), and Michele Yekel, Chad (Diana) and Shannon Sterle, Thomas (Helena) and Kevin (Carla) Kaucheck, Teddy (Torrie Smith), Adam (Keaton), and Nate (Alisa Connelly) Muzika; great-nieces and nephews, Autumn and Brayden Sterle, Shane Kaucheck, Mary Ellen and Cole Kaucheck, Xander Muzika, and Benjamin and Harrison Muzika; and dear friends, Missy and Matt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Yekel and Barbara Sterle; and two brothers-in-law, John Yekel and Ronald Sterle. Visitation for Adam will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401. A panachida service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment is in St. Mary Nativity Cemetery, Uniontown.
