Adan Gutierrez

Adan Gutierrez Jr. age 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, in Victoria, Texas. He was born in Robstown, Texas, on May 16, 1950, to the late Adan Gutierrez and Andrea Rodriguez.
He is survived by his mother, Andrea Rodriguez, children, Bethany Elena Gutierrez and Adan J. Gutierrez III; sisters Maria J. Moreno (Richard) of Schulenburg, Mabel F. Salinas of Victoria, Rose Mendoza, Eleazar Gutierrez, and Elda Gutierrez; brothers Hipolito Carranza, Freddie Fuentes, Elias R. Fuentes Jr., Julian Gutierrez, Carlos Gutierrez, Hector Gutierrez, and Smiley Gutierrez.
Adan is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Timothy A. Gutierrez, Andrew J. Gutierrez, Noah Nicholas Weyand and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Adan Gutierrez, and his brother Paul Fuentes.
A Memorial mass will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 2pm located at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (208 W. River St. Victoria, TX 77901).
Visitation will be Friday, April 26, 2024, at 9am located at Angel Lucy's Funeral Home (706 E. Crestwood Dr. Victoria, TX 77901) with a Holy Rosary to begin at 10am followed by The Liturgy of the Word.
Burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Adan J. Gutierrez III, Timothy A. Gutierrez, Andrew J. Gutierrez, Elias R. Fuentes Jr., Hector L. Gutierrez, and Adam G. Weyand.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Leonidas J. Gutierrez, Alexandra Deckelmann, Frank Torres, Paul Salinas, Erma Gutierrez, Jimmy Miller, Marie Saldana, and Janie Martinez.
Adan was a proud Raider at Stroman High School and played football (#73). After high school, Adan worked at JC Penny's as a suite salesman where he learned the ins and outs of being a savvy businessman. Later, he worked with the Western Company of North America, an oil and gas service company, in the early 80s as an equipment operator who worked with heavy equipment servicing oil and gas as well. He then began working for Fairmont as a sales representative later being promoted as an international sales representative for Hagemeyer (Invista and Dupont) where he helped translate and grow Fairmont sales in Mexico and later retired.
Along with being an amazing career driven man, he was a devoted Catholic. His spiritual journey began in his mid-30s after a close friend guided him to his faith. He became a member of the Cursillo de Cristiandad for over 15 years. Adan not only read the bible over 20 times but also researched, interpreted, and deciphered the Word of God so he could lead others to the Catholic faith. He attended Mass daily, on Sundays, and held a Bible Study in his home which went remote after COVID.
Adan was also known for being a Mariachi in Trio Encanto, Grieto Alegra, and Corona de Victoria. Anywhere his group performed they would leave the crowd excited, satisfied, and in good spirits.
Adan is "no doubt" in heaven working among the angles assisting our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with the work of the Holy Spirit. He has been promoted to Enteral Life with our Father. We will miss you Adan, but we know you were called to heaven for a greater purpose. May you rest in peace.
