Addie Mae Johnson, 86, of Port Huron, went home to be with the lord on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Port Huron Hospital. She was born on June 11, 1939, in Monroe, Georgia, to John Wesley Akridge and Hazel Lee Patrick. Addie graduated from Port Huron High School in 1959.

A devoted mother, Addie not only raised her five beloved children but also served as a foster mother to many others. She cherished traveling the country with her family, creating countless wonderful memories.

She possessed an extraordinary gift, which she generously shared through various roles. Her passion for helping others shone during her time as an aide for Visiting Nurse. For 50 years, she was a dedicated member of Blue Water Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she led Sabbath school and attended Interfaith Community Church and Pilgrim Baptist of Port Huron. She also actively contributed to Blue Water Citizens Against Crime and was a beloved "bonus mom" to many in the Gratiot Park neighborhood. There, she was affectionately known by numerous names, including Miss Addie, Mom, and Golden Woman, among others.

She found no greater joy than being a mother, except perhaps being a grandmother. If an award existed for the best-dressed and most outgoing grandma, she would undoubtedly be the recipient. She cherished every moment, every call, and every experience shared with her grandchildren. She was truly a blessing to us all.

Addie Johnson is survived by her three sons, James Johnson, Charles Raleigh Johnson, & Benjamin Johnson, all of Port Huron; two foster daughters, Joyce Ann Hayes of Ft. Loradeal, FL and Bernice Moncrief of Port Huron; son-in-law, Alonzo "Lonnie" Thomas, Sr. of Port Huron; Grand children Whitney Thomas of Chesterfield, MI; Alonzo (Sara) Thomas II of Macomb, MI; Jasmine Thomas of Fort Gratiot, MI; Cierra Johnson of Port Huron, MI; Taylor Johnson of Port Huron, MI; Jessica (Craig) Stapleton of Port Huron, MI and Jonathan (Roberta) Green of Davison, MI, 29 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Her brother William (Donna) Daniels and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death is her husband of over 67 years, Charles Edward Johnson; two children, son, Todd Johnson; daughter Wendy Thomas; brother Charles Daniels; step sister Doris (Pat) Patrick. Great granddaughter Paris Prather.

A gathering and a viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial-Smith Chapel 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron, Michigan, 48060. Pastor Alex Gietsel will officiate. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
