In 1961 while at home on leave he met his wife of 62 years, Carol Jane Rogers. They were married July 21, 1962. The next year they welcomed their first child Addison L Marvin III, followed two years later by their daughter Shirley Anne Marvin. Addison retired from the Air Force to Portsmouth NH after 20 years of meritorious service in 1977.

While living in Portsmouth, he worked as a computer operator at Philips Exeter. He then accepted an assistant professorship at the NH Technical School System and ultimately became a full professor. While part of the Portsmouth community Addison took active roles in the US Power Squadron and became Commodore of the Navy Yacht Club and the Portsmouth Yacht Club.

In the late 1990's, Addison and his wife decided to retire to Florida, and spent the next few years as snowbirds, going back and forth between Florida and New Hampshire before permanently settling in Florida in 2002. While enjoying retirement in Vero Beach, Florida Addison found and maintained many hobbies including stamp collecting, orchid cultivation, and an interest in the Rock and Gem Society. These hobbies kept him extremely fulfilled and engaged. Having led a full and interesting life, Addison followed his wife into the next adventure on November 3 rd, 2025.
