Adela Gonzalez

Adela Gonzalez, 80, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Adela was born on September 27, 1945, in Mexico to her beloved parents, Antonino Montoya and Maria Del Refujio Martinez. She later made her home in Rockford, Illinois, where she devoted her life to raising her family and creating a home filled with love and comfort.

Adela shared a beautiful life with her husband, Ramon Gonzalez, the love of her life. Together, they were blessed with 46 years of marriage, building a strong and loving family rooted in devotion and care. Adela took great pride in her role as a homemaker, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to caring for her family and nurturing those she loved.

She found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren, cherishing every moment shared with them. Adela also had a special love for gardening; her roses and plants were a reflection of her gentle spirit, tended with patience and care.

Adela will be remembered for her warmth, her devotion to her family, and the quiet beauty she brought into the lives of those around her.

The family would like to give special thanks to Unity Hospice for their tender care for her in her final days at home.

Adela is survived by her husband, Ramon Gonzalez; children, Jose (Megan) Gonzalez and Rocio Gonzalez; grandchildren, Bryant, Mekhi, Angelina, Arianna, Ezekiel, Milo, and Isla; sisters, Angelina (Gildardo) Arreguin and Rosa (Robert) Flemons; brothers, Ciro (Concepcion) Montoya, Abel (Victoria) Montoya and Eric (Maria) Montoya; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Antonino and Maria Del Refujio Montoya; brothers, Salvador Montoya, Arturo Montoya, and Noe Montoya; sisters, Ester Medina and Victoria Rodriguez; niece, Erica Montoya.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Honquest Family Funeral Home–Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL, 61111. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, March 23, 2026, at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 3004 11th Street, Rockford, IL 61109, at 10:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
