Adelaide "Angie" Ramsey Barton

After a brief illness, our beautiful, vibrant momma and Nonna passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She left this world as she lived it-- with grace, strength, dignity, and unwavering faith.

Adelaide Regina Cipullo was born at home on Vico Lungo del Gelso on August 3, 1937, in Naples, Italy. She was the oldest child of Pasquale Cipullo and Leonilde Palermo, and devoted big sister to Lorenzo and Elisa. She was a high school graduate of the Polytechnic Institute and attended Perroni Business School in Naples. In her youth, she was an excellent student and a sprinter on the school track team. As a child in Italy during World War II, she often shared stories of family, hardship, and strength—memories that helped shape the woman she became.

It was in Italy she met a handsome, charming Southern gentleman, Carl Ramsey, who affectionally called her "Angie". The two were married in 1957, beginning a life filled with adventure in the military. They were stationed in Libya, Washington DC, Virginia, and South Dakota. Just recently, she reminisced about the days she and the other wives spent at the beach while their husbands scuba-dived. She treasured those years as a military wife and held close the memories of the places they visited and the friends they made along the way. In 1969, they retired to Carl's beloved Mississippi, making their home in Ocean Springs until his passing in 1976.

She worked many years in banking along the Gulf Coast, as an ESL tutor with the Ocean Springs School District and later with the Dole Food Company in Gulfport. She was a founding member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Italian-American Cultural Society where she made many lasting friendships and proudly shared her Italian heritage.

She enjoyed all things beautiful and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures-- decorating her home, entertaining, being with family, feeding the birds, exercising, “Yahooing,” listening to music, singing the old Italian songs of yesterday, and watching old movie classics on TV. She was known for her legendary pasta and meatballs, preparing Sunday dinners and loved nothing more than sitting around the table laughing and sharing stories. Everyone was welcomed, and no one ever left hungry.

As a tailor’s daughter, she had an impeccable style and an eye for fashion. She loved her "bling-bling" and found joy collecting beautiful things. She was a lifelong learner, had a passion for languages and was always curious about the world around her. Her energy was abundant, her enthusiasm for life was infectious, and her sparkle impossible to forget.

Her greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her children, Lawrence Ramsey and Patricia Parker; her daughter-in-law Cherie Ramsey; her son-in-law Wayne Parker; and her grandchildren Carolyn Ramsey, Carl Ramsey, and Garrett Parker to whom she was proudly known as Nonna. She was the heart of our family-- a steady presence, always ready to lend a hand, make a meal, offer a listening ear and share the kind of advice that only she could give.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pasquale and Leonilde Cipullo; her sister, Elisa Henyon; her first husband, Carl Ramsey, father of her children; and her second husband, James "Larry" Barton, with whom she shared 35 years of marriage until his passing in 2015.

She taught us so much, not only through her words, but how she lived. Though our days feel quieter and our world a little dimmer without her, she remains with us. Her stories will be shared, her recipes prepared, and family traditions will live on in our hearts and homes. We take comfort in knowing she is in heaven with loved ones and dancing with Daddy to “Only You”, just as her heart always remembered.

Though our hearts are heavy, we celebrate a life filled with incredible strength, love and grace. Please join us for a gathering honoring our mother on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Riemann Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS.
