Adele Scuncio Obituary

October 16, 1923 - December 15, 2022 Anaheim Adele V. Scuncio was born on Columbus Day 1923 in Providence, Rhode Island to Italian immigrants Lorenzo and Doralice (Tasca) San Giuliano. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1941 and married Joseph John Scuncio in 1948. They moved their young family to Southern California in 1957, settling in Anaheim where Adele was widowed 10 years later at age 43. With three teenagers at home, she got a job at a local stationery shop and later worked at Robinson's May until her retirement. She was a loving Italian American mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother - always cooking everyone's favorite foods and preparing enough to feed an army. She entertained all with her stories of growing up in a large family, often making fun of herself or singing off-key (Que Sera Sera). Fiercely independent, Adele lived in her own home for 65 years - paying off the mortgage herself. She passed in her sleep in her own bed at age 99. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, and all 7 siblings - the last of a generation. She is survived by her children Fred (Karen) Scuncio, Joseph Scuncio (Andrea Whittaker), and Janice (John) Travis; grandchildren Jonathan (Amy) Scuncio, Chad (Tennille) Scuncio, Nicholas (Sarah) Travis; Katie (Ross) Reedy, Jayne (Frank) Gonzalez, and Joseph Travis; and great-grandchildren Gabriella, Luke, Tatum, Teagan, Scott, Ryder, and Travis; as well as a large extended family of San Giuliano and Scuncio descendants in Rhode Island and California. The family expresses sincere gratitude to Evelyn Cruz for her years of caregiving. She will be interred at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Los Altos, CA.
