Adeline I Archer

Adeline Iola Archer, affectionally known as mummy, grandma, and "Addie," was born on October 15, 1924, in Bridgetown, Barbados. She was the fifth child of Walter Evans Clark and Frederica MacMillan (deceased). Adeline was educated in Barbados. In 1943, she married James Theophilus Archer (deceased) and had five children: Anthony (Tony) Archer, Adaline (Pat) Waite, Angella Archer (Deceased), Arlene Jones, and Audley J.T. Archer (deceased) (daughter-in-law Theoria Archer). Adeline later had another son, Fitzerald (Jerry) Lawrence (daughter-in-law Maria Lawrence).

Adeline immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, to be with her brother and two sisters, Edward (Eddie) Clarke, Erma Ince, and Grace King. There she studied hairdressing and later earned an LPN degree specializing in home healthcare. She dedicated the remainder of her career to caring for Mr. and Mrs. Schwartz (both deceased), who cherished her deeply, until her retirement.

Adeline leaves a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren to mourn her passing including Michael and Jackie Waite, Rodney Waite, Ian Keith Gay and daughter-in-law Michelle Bryant Gay, James Archer, Janelle Archer, Adeline (Addie) Archer (deceased), Dagmar Springer Black, Shawn Archer, Athlene Jones, Jacqueline Jones Cuevas and son-in-law Hector Cuevas, and Fitzgerald Lawrence, Jr. Great-grandchildren: Jamela Waite, Lyric Waite, Rodney Waite, Jr., Raven Waite, Ian Gay, Jr., Felicia Bryant, Johnathan Gay, Joshua Bryant, Jordan Bryant, Jamal Bryant, Dashawn Archer, Shade' Davis, Nuri Jamila Dennis-Jones, Javon McQuaker, Saniya Lawrence, Lanaiyah Lawrence, Aaliyah Lawerence, Mariah Lawrence, and Cameron Lawrence. Great-Great-Grandchildren: Kaylee Hunter, Madison Hunter, Raya Hunter, Kyzan Massey, Zuri Gaston, Kimberly Gay, Mariana Sosa Hayden, Amir Waite, Zion Waite, Aniya Waite, Angelo Ezra Merino McQuaker, and a host of others who complete her legacy.

Adeline, our centenarian matriarch of the Clarke/Archer families, leaves an irreplaceable void and will be profoundly missed. She was known for her caring nature, enduring love, and sought-after guidance. She was also known for her incredibly gracious spirit, a quality demonstrated by her always-open doors. Her home was a sanctuary for family and friends alike, especially those facing difficult times or simply in need of a listening ear and comforting presence. Adeline will always be remembered as a haven where people felt genuinely welcomed, seen, and at home in her heart.
