Adeline Puzo Obituary

Puzo, Adeline A.
RENSSELAER - Adeline A. Puzo, 70, of Rensselaer, N.Y., passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at Albany Medical Center, after suffering a heart attack, followed by a stroke. She was a retired school counselor in the school systems throughout the Capital District, spending much of her career in the East Greenbush schools.
Adeline loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed reading and sharing ideas with her dear friends at the book club, shopping and attending the arts. She loved Winnie-the-Pooh, good food and her time studying abroad in the Netherlands. She was an excellent cook and a generous soul with her time and resources. Adeline graduated from Union-Endicott High School and earned her undergraduate degree at SUNY-Brockport, and her master's from the University of Albany.
Adeline was predeceased by her parents, Hans (Pops) and Concetta Heide; as well as her siblings, Connie Dunham and Thomas Puzo. She is survived by her three brothers, Hans (Julie) Heide, Jr., Michael and Eric Heide; her nephews, Brian (Carroll) and Matthew Dunham, Aaron and Michael Heide; and niece, Melissa Dunham. Adeline also has great-nephews, Nathan Dunham and Aiden Fortin; great-niece (and wild child), Emma Dunham, and great-niece Megan Dunham. Melissa, a nurse, was a great resource to the family during this trying time providing valuable medical input. Little Michael was the apple of Adeline's eye and provided her with a great deal of laughter and joy.
There will be no local service held but an intimate Celebration of Life with friends and family will be hosted in 2025. Adeline will be laid to rest at the family plot at Calvary Cemetery in Ithaca, N.Y., with her grandparents and parents.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite local charity or the National Kidney Foundation. Adeline made a substantial impact on her family, friends, and students, and will be greatly missed.

I worked directly with Adeline my very first years at EGCSD and she was always so generous and genuinely caring to me and my two boys who came through the District. I will always remember her fondly and hope she is at peace now.

I first knew Adeline as a parent of students in East Greenbush, and member of the district board of education and then as district superintendent at Questar III. She was a delightful and caring person always with a warm greeting for and genuine interest in others. Such a loss. My condolences to her friends and family.
