Funeral services for Adeline Wevley, of Morris, will be on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris with Reverend Emmy Swedlund officiating. A visitation will be on Thursday, from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Adeline Ann Amanda Pauling, daughter of John and Lillian (Meyer) Pauling, was born October 5, 1920 at her home in Nashville Township, Minnesota. At a young age, her family moved to a farm near Wahpeton, ND, where she grew up and attended school though the 8th grade. Following her schooling, Adeline helped her parents on the farm. Adeline was active in 4-H where she met her future husband, Iver Wevley through her sister-in-law, Melvina. They were married November 2, 1937. Adeline and Iver farmed for many years in the Breckenridge area, later moving to Alberta, MN, and eventually settling in Morris, MN. This is where they raised their family of six children as well has Adeline’s younger brother Don Pauling, and sister Beverley Pauling Bartell. Adeline worked various jobs in the area, finishing her career as a produce manager at Coborns Grocery in Morris. Iver passed away November 9, 2006. Adeline continued to live at her home in Morris until 2018 when she moved to West Wind Village, where she continued to live until the time of her death.
Adeline was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladie’s aide and also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, gardening, music, playing keyboard and traveling. Some of her favorite trips were to Florida and camping at Ten Mile Lake. Adeline was an excellent seamstress and made many of her children’s clothes. She also loved to cook, bake and can, making lots of pies, cookies and caramel rolls. Adeline was also quite the bookkeeper, keeping record of the daily temperature and the current agriculture markets. She loved her pets, especially her dogs: Skipper and Rusty. She will be missed dearly by her family.
Adeline died peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the West Wind Village in Morris. She was 103 years old.
Adeline is survived by her four children: Betty Gulbrandson of Watertown, MN, Carol (Larry) Anderson of Wendell, Donna (Robert) Wesen of Morris and Steve (Sara) Wevley of Farwell; 27 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Ina Wevley-Dunham as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years: Iver Wevley; two sons: James and his wife, Pam and Eugene Wevley; son-in-law: Kenneth Gulbrandson; two grandchildren: Todd Gulbrandson and Brenda Anderson; her parents and her siblings: Wesley Pauling, Lester Pauling, Donald Pauling and Beverley Bartell.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in care of arrangements for Adeline.
