Pastor Adell Brown was born on December 2, 1943, in Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi, to the late George Allen Brown and Ina Bell Brown.
Pastor Adell Brown attended Oakland Elementary School through the eighth grade. He was later withdrawn from school to work alongside his parents, helping to maintain balance and stability within the home. Though his formal education concluded at the eighth grade, he was widely known as one of the greatest mathematicians of his time and a highly respected Bible scholar.
He was first joined in holy matrimony to Mother Mary Helen Johnson Brown on September 4, 1964, who preceded him in death. He later married Missionary Freda Jean Brown on April 5, 2002.
In his early life, Pastor Brown attended North Silver Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Later, he united with St. Mary Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Elder M. C. Coleman, where he continued to serve faithfully under successive leaders, including the late Elder Oscar Mikell, the late Superintendent Earnest Johnson, and Superintendent Abraham Jones.
Pastor Brown served the church and the Kingdom of Christ in many capacities. His service included membership on the Deacon Board, serving as a financial officer on the Finance Committee, YPWW President of the local assembly, and faithfully supporting the ministry as church custodian and groundskeeper.
Beyond the local church, he served with dedication in the Southern First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Southern Mississippi, District #10, as District Sunday School Superintendent, District A.I.M.S. Chairman, and as a member of the Evangelistic Department.
Under the leadership of Superintendent Abraham Jones, Pastor Brown received the call to ministry and earned his Minister's and Elder's Licenses upon successful completion of the required courses. He served faithfully in these roles at St. Mary Church of God in Christ until he was later appointed Pastor of Coleman Chapel Church of God in Christ, Silver Creek, Mississippi. He served in this role with dedication and faithfulness until his health declined.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Missionary Freda Jean Brown of Prentiss, Mississippi; his loving step - mother, Mother Della Brown of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; one biological daughter, Milissa Gaither (Joseph) of Midlothian, Texas; and two daughters by marriage Kimberly Williams (Will) of Brandon, Mississippi; and Angela Tornes of Houston, Texas; three biological sons, Stanley Hayes Brown (Bobbie) of Braxton, Mississippi; Anthony Brown (Tasha) of Arlington, Texas; Shaft Vondell Brown (Krystal) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and one son by marriage Carl Sims, Jr. of Jackson, Mississippi; fourteen grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; four living brothers, George Allen Brown, Jr. (Jewel) and Roland Brown (Bobbie) of Prentiss, Mississippi; Willie Brown (Margie) of Oakvale, Mississippi; and Johnnie Mack Brown of Prentiss, Mississippi, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
