Adrian Mather Obituary

Mather, Adrian MacLeod
EAST GREENBUSH - Adrian "Bunny" MacLeod Mather, 86, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home.
Adrian was born in Albany, N.Y., the son of the late Adrian Mather and Helen Brewster-Blackly.
Bunny lived many places in his lifetime due to his father's job, but East Greenbush was home. His family owned Cantonment Farms in Hampton Manor when he was a child, then selling to the Orvis Family.
He served in the U.S. Army in the early 1960s, serving in Germany. He still could speak German to this day and enjoyed going to Stewarts in East Greenbush to see employee, Andrea, and speak to her in German. Pop loved Stewarts, he went there often with his son-out-law.
Bunny enjoyed horses and motorcycles. He was a social butterfly and everywhere he went he either knew someone or could easily strike up a conversation with a stranger. Even at Van Rensselaer Manor he was like the mayor! After he got back into motorcycles in the early 1990s, he enjoyed hanging at Mother's Roadhouse in East Greenbush. He belonged to several clubs over the years, the last being The American Legion Riders, Melvin Roads Post. One of his prize possessions was his 1969 Dodge Polara "Old Blue."
He and his daughter were very close, and she will always be daddy's little girl!!
He retired as a conductor for Penn Central and ConRail after many years.
Survivors include daughter, Kathleen Marie Mather; son-out-law, John Richardson; and two grandchildren, Dylan and Hunter Mather-Richardson, all of Averill Park. He is also survived by his sons-out-law; mother and sister, Joanne and Jody Richardson, both of Averill Park. Good friends, Patti and Paul Meister of East Greenbush. Bunny is survived by several nieces and nephews and several friends, including those of Melvin Roads Post American Legion Riders.
He often said that he outlived most of his friends.
In addition to his parents; he was predeceased by his wife, Betty Lou Mather; brother, Alexander M. Mather; and sister, Patricia Mather.
The family would like to thank the staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for all they do. They would also like to thank the members of The Melvin Roads Post American Legion Riders for always being there for Bunny.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Sunday, September 14, from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m., in the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home Inc., 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer.
Contributions in Adrian "Bunny" Mather's memory may be made to Van Rensselaer Manor.

Yesterday

Bunny was my neighbor in EG, and he was always cheerful and I enjoyed many wonderful chats with him. And he was also always ready to lend a hand. The best story was him helping me hunt down a mouse in my house. That mouse tried to outsmart us but Bunny would not give up until we found it. And we did, and we relocated the mouse to "a better place". Rest In Peace kind soul.
