Adrienne DeKing Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Healy Chapel Funeral & Cremation Services - Aurora Facility on May 1, 2025.
Adrienne Marie DeKing, (Fisher) born on April 9, 1942, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 27, 2025 after a short battle with Multiple Myeloma.
Ade, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God and her family. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her for the way her life had a profound impact on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
After her graduation from Madonna High School in 1960, she worked at Barber-Greene as a receptionist. She was a member of the Nu Phi Mu sorority chapter from 1961 until 1975 where she met some of her longtime friends. Later, Ade met Bruce DeKing, and they were married on June 30, 1963. On January 10, 1968, they welcomed their daughter Jennifer and on October 1, 1973, they welcomed another daughter, Julie. Ade's devotion and love for her family was unwavering.
She was always involved in their school functions whether it was a room Mom, a bake sale, girl scout leader, carpooling, and anything that was needed, she stepped in to help.
Ade's generous heart radiated to all who knew and loved her.
Once her daughters were old enough for school, Ade took a job at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Aurora as a teacher's aide for the kindergarten class. She loved it so much she was there for 25 years! Her next career adventure was as a receptionist for the law firm of Mickey, Wilson, Weiler, and Renzi where she worked for 30 years until she retired in 2020.
Ade's greatest joy was being Grammy to her only granddaughter, Avery. They shared countless hours of fun, laughter, cooking, playing pickleball in the living room, doing crafts and pretty much whatever she wanted. She was the light of her life!
Ade had a bit of a wild side and loved her rock music. She attended an AC/DC concert with her daughter and family for her 73rd birthday. She also went to see various other rock shows with her daughters, and they loved to watch American Idol together and go to the meet and greets. Ade loved Monster Trucks, anything with Godzilla and dancing and having fun with her family.
She had a passion for horses from the time she was little and later in life fell in love with greyhounds. Ade and Bruce became regular volunteers for the Midwest Greyhound Rescue group from Sugar Grove and ended up fostering, and of course adopting, 6 different dogs through the years.
Ade is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Steve) Huber & Julie DeKing, and her only granddaughter, Avery. Her brothers are Ross (Grace) Fisher, Roger Fisher, Dan (Annie) Neil, sisters Kathy (Wayne) O'Brien, Laurie Foley; Patty (Dan) Sheahan. Ade also has another "sister" and her best friend of 79 years, Sharon (Gene) Phillip.
Ade is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Bruce DeKing, her parents Robert & Betty Fisher, dear brother-in-law Matt Foley, and infant brother Mark.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Friday, June 13 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove, IL.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 10 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 620 Fifth St., Aurora, IL 60505.
Memorials in Ade's name can be made to: Midwest Greyhound Rescue, P.O. Box 338, Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Online donations using the Paypal button can be found on the website (www.midwestgreyhound.org) under the Donate link.
