Agnes Faye Morgan Niven

Agnes Faye Morgan Niven, 80, of Montevallo passed away Wednesday, February 7th at 9:45 am. Agnes was born in Birmingham, AL to Woodrow and Margaret Morgan before moving to Montevallo at a young age. She graduated from Montevallo High School, Class of 1961. She married Benny Niven in August of 1963. The young couple moved back to Montevallo in 1964 where she became a teller then loan officer at Merchants & Planters Bank. Agnes was a devoted employee of Merchants and Planters Bank (eventually People's Bank and then Banktrust) for forty years where she worked her way to the position of Vice President and Auditor. Her employer said that she helped them build Merchants & Planters Bank. He said he learned a long time ago to leave the bank examiners with Agnes because she would guarantee the bank was in good standing. She was a devoted member of Enon Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday School class. She loved ceramics, cross-stitching, shopping, playing dominos, and spending time with family and friends. Later in life she enjoyed going to watch the girls' sports teams at Montevallo High School where her daughter coaches. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents Woodrow Wilson Morgan and Margaret Murray Morgan, her husband of 57 years Bennett West Niven, and nephew Brad Stephen Epperson, brother-in-law Mark Epperson, and sister-in-law Jeanette Morgan. She is survived by her two daughters Tena Renae Niven and Kimberly Niven Hinch (Heath), brother Jerry Morgan, sisters Francis Morgan Miller (Milt) and Shirlene Morgan Epperson, grandchildren Gabrielle Brandenberg Knowles (Will) and Katelyn Elizabeth Brandenberg, great grandchildren Carsyn Elizabeth Knowles and Camden West Knowles, and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation at Enon Baptist Church, Friday, February 9, 2024 from 6-8 pm. A service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 1:00 pm. She will lie in state an hour before services. Agnes will be laid to rest in Enon Cemetery, Bro. Bill Trawick and Bro. Todd Burr will be officiating.
