Agostino Scicchitano, 82, a longtime resident of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully at his home with his daughters by his side on Saturday, October 11, 2025. He fought his illness bravely. He truly enjoyed the company of his family and friends, especially these last few weeks, and he left us with dignity and grace.
Agostino was born on March 25, 1943 in Girifalco, Italy to the late Cosimo and Caterina Migliazza Scicchitano. He came to the United States at the age of sixteen and became a Stone Mason/Bricklayer. He owned his own construction business for over 30 years. Masonry was Agostino's passion and he created masterpieces all throughout Connecticut and New York.
Agostino met the love of his life, Lucy Kalinowski Scicchitano, at night school learning how to speak English. They were married in January of 1965, created a family they treasured and were together until her passing in 2018.
Agostino, also known as Gus, loved to play Italian card games and bocce with his friends. He took pride in sharing the vegetables he grew in his garden and enjoyed tending to his plants and flowers throughout his yard. We never left his house hungry. He delighted in seeing our smiles when we ate the food he cooked for us. Christmas Eve, especially, will never be the same without him.
Agostino is survived by his devoted children and their spouses: Cosimo (Laura) Scicchitano, Caterina "Cathy" Scicchitano (Sue Ball), Paola E. "Liz" Gall (Frank) and John (Kristina) Scicchitano and his eight cherished grandchildren: Samantha, Alexandra, Christopher, Rachel, Allison, Lisa, Rebecca and Victoria. Agostino is also survived by his sister, Paola Ferraina, and his brother, Vincenzo Scicchitano (Caterina). Several in-laws, nieces, nephews, godchildren and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents and his wife, Agostino was predeceased by his brothers, Pasquale and Gino Scicchitano, brothers-in-law, Rocco Ferraina, John and Raymond Kalinowski, Zenon Mocarski and sisters-in-law, Vera Mocarski and Yadwiga Pruszko.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bennett Cancer Center, Constellation Home Care and all those who helped Agostino in his time of need.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 17th from 4pm to 8pm at Bosak Funeral Home & Cremation, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT, on Saturday, October 18th. Interment will immediately follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Avenue, Darien, CT.
