Ai S. Annis Jr.

WHATELY- Ai Stillman Annis Jr., 81, of River Road passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Ai was born on April 27, 1943, in Holyoke, the son of the late Ai and Florence (Gottsman) Annis. Ai was raised in Chicopee and attended local schools. He met Carol Hatch, and they were married, and settled in Whately in 1973 to raise their family. He started C &A Repair in 1985 and took on the Cub Cadet power equipment line. He ran the business for thirty-five years alongside his wife and children. He served his town of Whately, both as a Selectmen and also on the Board of Assessors. Ai loved spending time on the water as a youth in the Sea Scouts and this love carried through the rest of his life. He also took many adventures to the Champlain Canal and the Erie Canal on his pride and joy his cabin cruiser, My Time. Ai was sadly predeceased by his parents, and his sister Beverly Tauer. He is survived by his loving wife Carol (Hatch) Annis, his daughter Edith Anderson of Erving, his son Ai Annis of South Hadley, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. All services for Ai will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Donations in Ai's memory may be made to the South County Senior Center, 22 Amherst Rd. PO Box 225, Sunderland, Ma 01375.
