Aileen Copithorne, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family, who all lived close by and lovingly visited as often as possible.
Aileen was a lifelong Cochranite. In her early years she spent considerable time at the Beynon-Davies dairy farm (the Brickyard) which was situated in what is now the Cochrane Ranch. She was influenced to become a nurse by her aunt Annie. She married John and became very active sharing the dairy farm life with John and their three children, Lloyd, Sandy and John. Her brother Gordon Davies is active with the Cochrane Museum which formerly was the home where Aileen and Gordon were raised. The siblings had a strong bond right until Aileen passed away.
Aileen was an accomplished organist and pianist who shared her gift at weddings, funerals, church services, and 40 years as choir leader at St. Andrew’s United Church. She was also an avid curler, sports enthusiast, and loved a good card game with family and friends. Aileen was loved by all who came to know her big heart and her great sense of humor.
Aileen will be deeply missed by her loving family; her son Lloyd (Clare) Copithorne and their daughter Julene (Blake) Morris and children Kale, Taryn and Tace, and their son Gord (Jen) and children Kaelyn, Karly, Ky and Allie; her daughter Sandy Copithorne; her son John (Shannon) Copithorne and their daughter Shae and son Tynon (Natasha) and their child Cruz.
Aileen was predeceased by her husband John in 1998.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at St. Andrews United Church (128 1 St E, Cochrane, AB) at 11:00 am.
