Akiko Shuri Daniels

Akiko Shuri Daniels, age 82, of Pace, Florida, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025. She was born in Okinawa, Japan, on September 5, 1942, to Gyuzen and Muta Fuki Shuri. She was married to Richard Lee Daniels for 30 years. Akiko worked for the Navy Exchange as a barber for 51 years. She was the original creator and President of the first United Staes Okinawa Kenjinkai Music and Dance Club. She had a passion for teaching Okinawan music and dance.
Akiko was preceded in death by her parents and eldest brother; husband, Richard Lee Daniels, and son, Kenneth Jay Daniels.
Akiko is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Richert (Richard A. Richert); daughter-in-law, Charlotte W. Daniels; grandson, Carson Wilkes Daniels; granddaughter, Brenda Lee Piatak (Jayson Thomas Piatak); great grandson, Tristan Thomas Piatak; and great grandson, Linkin Richard Piatak.
There will be a Gathering of Friends on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a service from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. There will be a graveside service in Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, at a later date.
