Al "Longman" "Big Al" Anders, age 76, of Otway, passed away peacefully Wednesday April 9, 2025, at the home he shared with his loving wife for over 35 years. He was born on September 24, 1948, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of the late Don and Jean (Young) Anders. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pam (Feather) Anders whom he married on November 25, 1967; his daughter Feather Anders and favorite Son-in-Law Chip Copas; Sister Ellen Branham of Tennessee; Sister-in-Law Michelle (Don) Kalinowski of Florida; Brother-in-Law Shane (Belinda) Bebout of Florida; Brother-in-Law Duke Bebout and Sharon Cremeans of McDermott, Ohio; Nephews Jesse Bebout, Sonny Bebout, Hunter Bebout; Nieces Kelli (Branham) Hill and Sarah Cremeans; Grand fur babies Eva Jean, Loki, Paul and Mazey.
He was always ready with a joke or a limerick (if you know, you know). He enjoyed being outdoors and especially enjoyed the annual canoe trip that took him down Ohio Brush Creek every year for over 35 years. Favorite pastimes included reading, working crossword puzzles, blacksmithing in his workshop and playing volleyball anywhere there was an available court. He always looked forward to weekly drumming with Rick and Vicki Potts, as he always had an inner rhythm going and could bust out with a quick jive or drum beat on anything that happened to be close. He was a houseboat captain, house painter, volleyball coach, animal lover, former Butt Dart Champion and Vietnam Veteran serving in the Army Corps of Engineers.
Pam and Feather would also like to recognize special friends Greg Gemperline (Maureen McConn) who are family of the heart, Sandy Schwering who was our biggest cheerleader, Bud (Debbie) Weber with whom so many adventures were shared and Kate who is amazing in every way and was a huge help to the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date and will include all things expected at a party celebrating the life of Al Anders. Be ready to boogie! In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to help with funeral expenses, may be made in Als name to the Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory, PO Box 127, Hillsboro, OH 45133.
