Alaina Marie Matthews Evans

With a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Alaina Marie Matthews Evans, 45, wife of Jeffrey C, Evans of Bluffton, SC, and Mother of Reaghan Marie Evans of Bluffton, SC on Sept 15th, 2023. Alaina was born August 18th, 1978 in Florence, SC. Alaina was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
She was the daughter of the late Donald W. Matthews and Karen Lee Matthews. Alaina was a beacon of light to everyone she met. Alaina was loved by many and was truly a ray of sunshine. She had a heart of compassion and brought joy to the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Alaina loved the Lord and had a servants heart.
Alaina graduated from USC with a Degree in Education and a Masters from Leslie University. She taught at Bluffton and Okatie Elementary schools. She was volunteer with the Spirit Store and PTO treasurer at May River High School, a member of CRHP, Book Club and enjoyed bible studies, plus spending time with her family and friends. Alaina was a member of the Women's Group at St. Gregory the Great.
She was a loving wife, incredible mother, and so cherished by her family.
Alaina leaves behind a loving husband of 20 years, Jeffrey C. Evans, precious daughter, Reaghan Marie Evans, Mother, Karen Lee Matthews of Coward, Sister Stephanie Matthews Purvis (Charlie) of Florence, and Brother Mickey Matthews (Trianna) of Coward, SC, Grandmother Judy Lee of Scranton, SC. Mother n law Sandra Clark, of Bluffton, SC and sister n law Jodi L. Evans of Bluffton, and Mary Jo Wachs(mother n law) of Mishawaka, IN and a number of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Alaina was preceded in death by her Father, maternal Grandfather Curtis Lee, paternal Grandparents Wilburn and Gaynell Matthews, nephew Mikaele Matthews, and niece Audrey Matthews.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 18th from 5 pm - 7 pm at Sauls Funeral home in Bluffton. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, September 19th at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton, SC at 10:30 am.

Alaina's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but we are forever grateful to God for every moment we had with her on this earth.. Love forever!
