Alan Lee Crouse, 66, of Livonia, passed away Dec. 16, 2024, at home after an 18-month battle with brain cancer.
He was born Jan. 25, 1958, in Flint and grew up in Cass City. He received his bachelor's degree and MFA from Eastern Michigan University. A gifted artist and graphic designer, Al spent much of his career at Oakland Community College.
Al was a kind, gentle soul who was devoted to his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Nancy; two sons of whom he was very proud, Aaron Crouse and Kyle (Sofia) Crouse; and his cherished granddaughter, Eva Crouse. He also will be missed by treasured friends, many of whom loved him ever since their time together at EMU more than 40 years ago.
Al had many interests. He loved visiting the family cottage at Higgins Lake; watching his boys play hockey; helping them fix up their houses when they grew up; listening to music; reading books of all kinds, especially science fiction; collecting comic books; watching movies (the weirder the better); and traveling with Nancy to places like Italy, Wales, Alaska, and Hawaii.
A memorial mass will take place Saturday, Dec. 21, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edith Catholic Church, 15089 Newburgh Road, Livonia. The gathering place at the front of the church will open at 9:30 a.m. A luncheon at the church will follow the mass.
