Alan Paul Grimm was born on May 26, 1953, in Carroll, Iowa, to Raymond and Ila (Jahn) Grimm. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, where he remained a lifelong member. He attended Manning High School and graduated with the Class of 1971.
Following his education, Alan was employed by Burton Family Farms of Irwin, McLaughlin Construction, and later with a road construction crew, where he operated an asphalt packer until his retirement in 2019.
He was a member of the 5 Mile House. In his free time, Alan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sports.
Alan passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at the Manning Hospital in Manning at the age of 72 years, six months and 29 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean Grimm; sisters-in-law: Peggy Grimm and Nancy Grimm; and niece, Natalie Mason.
He is survived by his brothers: Curt Grimm of Aspinwall, Bruce (Mary) Grimm of Manning; sister, Connie (Dan) Brasel of Dunlap; many nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
His graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Manning Cemetery with fellowship to follow over bars, cookies and coffee at the Zion Lutheran Church fellowship hall. The family will direct memorials.
