Alan “Al” Daniel Klug, born October 29th, 1963, passed away on December 31st, 2025, surrounded by the love of those who knew him best at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Al had a deep love for music and a playful spirit that showed in the way that he believed just about anything could become a percussion instrument. His favorite musician was Elton John, whose music often echoed his outlook on life. Music was not just something he listened to - it was something he felt.
Gifted with the innate ability to fix nearly anything, he was a true tinkerer at heart. If it had an engine, he loved working on it, taking things apart and putting them back together better than before. His curiosity and hands-on skill were matched only by his determination.
Al also had a lifelong passion for CB radio, known fondly by his handle “Badgerbase”. He enjoyed connecting with others, sharing conversations and being part of a wider community through the airwaves.
Never short on opinions, Al had a strong passion for politics and was a huge Ford Enthusiast. He was also endlessly fascinated by the weather, and he was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan, cheering them on through every season with loyalty and enthusiasm. He also had a rather large obsession with the “Star Trek” series….he was a true “Trekkie” at heart telling those whom he loved to “Live long and prosper”.
Above all, Al will be remembered for his individuality, his humor, his resourcefulness, and the love he held for his family. His presence was unmistakable, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Al was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Klug. He is survived by his mother Shirley Klug (Harkner) of Merrill; his brothers, Brian (Lynn) Klug and Jeff (Kim) Klug both of the Town of Hamburg; his daughters Melissa (Kevin) Hill of Merrill and Miranda (Joe) Cypcar of Aniwa; and his cherished grandchildren, Orion, Hailey, Mikaili, Brynlee and Ryleigh, who brought him endless pride and joy. He is also survived by many Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. Additionally, he leaves behind his beloved dogs, Ode, Autumn and Oreo, who were his constant companions and part of his family.
A private ceremony for Al, along with a celebration of life, will be held in his honor on a later date.
As Elton John so beautifully wrote:
“And you can tell everybody, this is your song, it may be quite simple but, now that it’s done, I hope you don’t mind, I hope you don’t mind that I put down in the words. How wonderful life is, while you’re in the world.”
He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at the Aspirus Merrill Hospital and the Aspirus Wausau Hospital for their extraordinary care.
