My family and Alan go back to the 1970's when Alan delivered chlorine and supplies to our pool at the Pines Hotel in Canadensis. We could not have kept the pool running without him. He became a good friend of the family and I looked forward to seeing him every summer season. He was friendly, personable, and a hard worker. He will remain in my memories of The Pines Hotel and the many summer seasons growing up in the Pocono Mountains.

My sister and I always enjoy our trips to the Poconos, but they were always better the times Alan stopped by to visit. We nicknamed Alan "Bob the builder" because most mornings we would awaken to him mowing the grass or riding around in his backhoe. He always worked from dusk 'til dawn, but he would find time to stop and visit. He especially liked having some shrimp, a couple of beers and brownies. We were always interested to hear his stories and talk about current events. Luckily, we still manage to visit (every Spring,16 years straight now), but we will miss seeing Alan and will envision him... still riding his lawnmower and smiling and waving. Godspeed, Alan. R.I.P. dear friend.
