Alan K. Strand, 79, of Bartonsville, died Monday morning, April 11, 2022, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL. He was the husband of Linda (Pansy) Strand with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
Born on October 17, 1942 in the Panama Canal Zone, he was a son of the late Alfred and A. Barbara (Kissling) Strand and lived in Bartonsville for most of his life.
He graduated from Pocono Township High School in 1960 and East Stroudsburg University in 1965 before beginning his life work of owning and operating Strand Pool Supply for 45 years. He was also involved in the family business, Countryside Cottages in Bartonsville.
In addition to his wife, surviving are three sons, Alan B. Strand and wife Julia of Stroudsburg, Matthew Strand and wife Melissa of Bartonsville, and Kurt Strand and wife Lisa of Stroudsburg; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Evan, Aidan, Sienna, August,Emily and Josie Strand; three sisters, Diane Pizzuti of Longwood, FL, Linda Brenner and husband Dr. Jack of Ossining, NY, and Lois Peechatka and husband Burdett of Bartonsville; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Barry G. Strand.
As per his wishes, there will be no services at this time.

My family and Alan go back to the 1970's when Alan delivered chlorine and supplies to our pool at the Pines Hotel in Canadensis. We could not have kept the pool running without him. He became a good friend of the family and I looked forward to seeing him every summer season. He was friendly, personable, and a hard worker. He will remain in my memories of The Pines Hotel and the many summer seasons growing up in the Pocono Mountains.

My sister and I always enjoy our trips to the Poconos, but they were always better the times Alan stopped by to visit. We nicknamed Alan "Bob the builder" because most mornings we would awaken to him mowing the grass or riding around in his backhoe. He always worked from dusk 'til dawn, but he would find time to stop and visit. He especially liked having some shrimp, a couple of beers and brownies. We were always interested to hear his stories and talk about current events. Luckily, we still manage to visit (every Spring,16 years straight now), but we will miss seeing Alan and will envision him... still riding his lawnmower and smiling and waving. Godspeed, Alan. R.I.P. dear friend.
