Alan Ford Test, age 77, of Ocean Springs, passed away on May 15, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Jane Test.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sue Carol Rokaw; his daughter, Natasha Caulder (Ben); a granddaughter, Lilliana Caulder; a sister, Mary Test; and a sister-in-law, Kay Rousseau (Stuart Montgomery); and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Test was a native of Los Angeles, Ca and was a current resident of Ocean Springs, MS. He was a graduate of Occidental College and he served in the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman from August 1963 – May 1969. Mr. Test was retired from Construction Management and he held a Professional Designation in Construction Management. He enjoyed sailing, hiking, bicycling, serving others by using his love of sailing by founding a Blinding Sailing Program at Gulfport Yacht Club. He was also a rugby player in his early years.
He was a member of the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, a Polio Plus Society member, a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International, Rotary Club of Ocean Springs, and the Gulfport Yacht Club.
Alan's family would like to thank so many friends in California and in their new coastal Mississippi home for their ongoing loving support. Alan was able to turn and an idea into reality to serve others through his love for Rotary and sailing. In the words of Jack London: "I would rather be a superb meteor than a sleepy and permanent planet."
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Blind Sailing Program c/o Gulfport Yacht Club Foundation, 800 E Pier Road, Gulfport, MS 39501.
A graveside service will be at 10 am on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Southern Memorial Park, Biloxi, MS.
