Thomas Wilson Miller, born on June 10, 1924, in Cotton Valley, Louisiana, passed away on September 30, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi. He lived a life distinguished by dedication and service, retiring from the Air Force after 20 years of honorable military service.
During his retirement, Thomas embraced his love for reading and hiking, proudly accomplishing the notable feat of completing the Appalachian Hike. His commitment to community service was demonstrated through his involvement with organizations such as the Shriner's and the American Legion.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Palazzo (Butch) and their children, Anthony Palazzo, II (Amy) and Thomas Brett Palazzo. Thomas cherished his role as a grandfather to Madison, Joseph, Marissa, and Vincent Palazzo; Mark Miller; Ashley Miller Teegarden; and Joshua Miller. Additionally, he took joy in being a great-grandfather to Rawlings Palazzo and Killian Teegarden. Thomas is also lovingly remembered by his seven sisters and one brother, who were significant figures in his life.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Iona Gretchen Miller, and his sons, Thomas Miller, Jr. and Michael Miller. He also mourned the loss of his father, Hugh Miller, and mother, Jessie Miller, who shaped his early years.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Armed Services Retirement Home for their exceptional care and compassion, allowing Thomas to feel at home during his time there.
Visitation will be held on October 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Riemann Family Funeral Home in Gulfport, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens in Long Beach at 3:00 PM.
Thomas Wilson Miller leaves behind a legacy of love, respect, and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew him.
