Alan Weferling Obituary
Alan Carl Weferling, 72 entered the presence of his Heavenly Father on October 24. He was born in Springfield on October 20, 1953 and is the son of the late Erwin and Shirley (Riedel) Weferling. Alan is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Elaine (Hartman) Weferling.
He is a 1972 graduate of Springfield Trade School. After graduating he worked in the sheet metal trade and was a member of Local 63 Springfield Sheet Metal Workers Union. He attended Columbia Bible College in South Carolina majoring in biblical studies. His desire was to grow in his faith in Jesus to be better prepared to serve his Savior. After retirement he worked on the maintenance crew at Pioneer Valley Christian Academy. He often expressed that this was his favorite job because of the relationships developed with students and staff.
Besides his wife, Alan is survived by his sister Debra (Weferling) Chistolini and husband Christopher of Westfield, MA, brother-in-law Charles Hartman and wife Deborah of Mount Joy, PA.
He loved his role as an uncle to four nieces, two nephews, six great nieces, two great nephews, a great-great nephew and niece.
Alan brought much joy to his family and friends with his optimistic outlook on life. He was encouraging and generous. His sense of humor was filled with long stories filled with added details to make them more entertaining. He often said, "Life is good, because God is good."
Alan is now completely healed. He was confident of his destination because he trusted in his Savior, Jesus, and is living in the reality of God's Truth and Promises. His physical struggles have ended and he is now singing before the throne of God in perfect key.
The family is grateful for the prayers and support of many friends through this difficult season. Special appreciation is given to the Springfield Dialysis Center for their care and friendship.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, November 8, 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, 640 Plumtree Road in Springfield.
